Valentine’s Day Traditions…
Spreading the Love: Our Family Valentine’s Day Tradition
Valentine’s Day has always been a day of love, romance, and sweet gestures, but years ago, my husband and I decided to make it about more than just us—we wanted to include our children in the celebration of love.
From the moment we became parents, we knew we wanted our kids to grow up feeling cherished, valued, and appreciated, not just on birthdays or special occasions, but in everyday moments too. So, we started a family tradition: every Valentine’s Day, we ask our kids what little treats or surprises they’d love, and we make it happen. Sweet treats, colorful balloons, small gifts—whatever brings a smile to their faces. My husband always makes sure to bring our daughter flowers, a simple yet beautiful reminder that she is loved and adored.
Of course, my husband still brings me flowers and balloons, just as he always has, even though he showers me with love in countless ways all year round. But what makes it even more special is seeing our children light up, knowing that they are thought of and deeply loved on this day too.
Love isn’t just about romantic gestures—it’s about showing up for the people who mean the most to us. And for us, Valentine’s Day is a beautiful reminder to continue spreading that love, not just to each other, but to our little ones who make our hearts fuller every day.
How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day in your family?
