Dear Grandma…

Happy Birthday to you, to us.

From the moment I took my first breath, we were connected in a way no one else will ever truly understand. Being your first grandchild, born on your birthday, and raised in your home as if I were your own, has been the greatest gift God could have ever given me. Our bond is something special—one that goes beyond words, beyond time, beyond what anyone else could ever experience.

You are the mother of my mother, the foundation of our family, a beautiful Black woman whose strength, wisdom, and love have shaped me in ways I will forever be grateful for. I have watched you pour your heart into everything you do, whether it’s cooking a meal that fills the house with warmth or bowing your head in prayer, seeking guidance from God with a faith so unshakable that it taught me to do the same.

So much of who I am today is because of you. I learned to cook by watching you work magic in the kitchen, to love deeply by witnessing the way you care for others, and to walk in faith by following your example of devotion to God. You are one of my greatest teachers, my role model, and my safe place.

Sharing this special day with you is an honor that I will cherish forever. It’s more than just a birthday—it’s a reminder of the unbreakable bond we have, of the love that runs deep in our blood, and of the legacy of strength, resilience, and grace that you have passed down to me.

Happy Birthday, Grandma. I love you endlessly.

Forever your Brown Rabbit,

XOXO Kaye,
